Fache:"...I'm calling Interpol."
Collet looked surprised. "You're putting this on the wire?"

What is the meaning of "wire" here? Is it a network Interpol uses to look for their suspects around the world?

Thanks

'The question is,' said Humpty Dumpty, 'which is to be master-- that's all.'
