Hi

It's a shame we cannot return to the world we were wired for.

I've been trying to look up this word in a dictionary, but haven't found anything that would satisfy me. So, what does it mean: "wired for"? Is it some slang expression?

Something that is wired makes use of information technology to transfer or receive information.

Metaphorically, "wired for" in this context means "programmed" - so we [humans] are programmed to deal with the world in which we exist. It is related to the term "hard-wired"
