It has been a habit for me to write the following words, at the end, when writing an email.
Evem when writing a letter to get a new job. I mean a job application.
Is it fine?

Best wishes is fine for informal letters to friends and acquaintances, but it is certainly too casual for business letters and job applications. Use Sincerely yours-- it is never inappropriate.
