The ride across a lake is endless white, giving me the impression that no distance at all was being gained.

Winter is the weather so that I think "white" points out the snow extending endlessly. Right?

Yes indeed, Pastel, a wide white flat snow-covered lake.

And I'm moving this thread to the Vocabulary Forum, OK?

Hello, MM,

Can I say no?! You've already done it and why did you ask me?

Thanks,
Pastel

Hi Pastel,

If a moderator needs to ask for a member's permission he would say something like this :"Can I move your question to the Vocabulary forum ?" or "Let me know if this is OK with you".

According to his message, MM did not mean to ask whether it was OK to move your question to another section. He just INFORMED you about what he was going to do.

Pls help me

'Outsourcing' is contracting to outside companies or individuals to do work that was formerly done within your company. It is a way of slimming down operational expenses in many cases.

What does the word "ride" here mean?We can't say ride is white, right?Unless it refer to the word "lake"?

We'll have to wait for Pastel's definitive interpretation of the text, WW, but the 'ride' seems to be just that: conveyance in a vehicle (sleigh?) or on a horse perhaps. The ride can indeed be described metaphorically as 'white' if that is a dominant characteristic of the journey.

'I'm dreaming of a white Christmas, ' sings Bing Crosby.
