I have got some problems with correcting an essay of a friend of mine about cattle breeding.
Which one(s) is/are correct?
A) In America the Longhorn cattle and the Hereford cattle are mainly kept. (That´s the original!)
B) In America mainly Longhorn- and Hereford cattle are kept.
Thanks for your help!

I could be wrong, but I think B sounds better. I don't believe that you should have the hyphen after Longhorn, though, because the original word "Longhorn cattle" isn't hyphenated. But I haven't been in school for a few years, so I could very well be wrong about that. Can somebody else clarify?
Hope that helps.....

I agree, Haoqide, no hyphen necessary after Longhorn. I would, by the way, prefer to see 'raised' or 'bred' rather than 'kept'.

'The question is,' said Humpty Dumpty, 'which is to be master-- that's all.'
