Pretty much any word can be a 'word stem' in English, Guest.
The word stem for 'prettily' is 'pretty'.
The word stem for 'wordiness' is 'word'.
The word stem for 'stemy' is stem'
The word stem for 'guestification' is 'guest'.
I've stretched the envelope a tad on the fourth one but English is a language wherein we can add many suffixes [after the stem] and prefixes [before the stem] to create new words.

False, a word stem is a root derived from another language that forms a part of another word but cannot be a word by itself, such as anti, scope, sci, micro, macro, tele etc.

anti-, micro-, re-, -tion, -ish, etc. are not stems (roots); they are affixes.
In bluish, blue is a stem and ish is an affix.
In convenience, ven is a stem, and con- and -ence are affixes.
There are thousands of roots in English. I doubt there is a list
of them. They can sometimes be easy to identify, though,
especially if there are a lot of words with the same root and different
affixes: expel, repel, propel, for example, show pel as a root.

Yes. The Stem or Root of a word is the foundation from which the word comes from. For example:
The Stem of Lovely is Love
Of Leafy it is leaf
Of reorganisation it is organise
Of unreasonable it is reason
The re, un, ly, tion, and able are prefixes, and suffixes, or together they are affixes (parts of the word). These are the small parts added to the word to change its meaning, or intention.
So, therefore i agree that the stem of prettily is pretty.
I hope this helps, but as a previous writer has said, it can be interpreted many different ways. How you will decipher it will be your own course of learning.
