1. What does 'Stake a claim' mean? What does 'stake' mean here?
2. What's the difference between 'people' and 'persons'?
3. What's the difference among 'state, nation, country'? Does state usually mean like some states in America? They consist of America? However, country is like America? How about nation? Same thing?

Thanks.

YEs, I did. Could you please tell me? It's really important for me to know the difference between 'person' and 'people'.

People is the plural of person : Who is that person?  Who are those people?

People also means the members of a particular nation, community, or ethnic group, and has a plural form "peoples": The people in Britain are mixed in origin.  The peoples of the world must unite

Persons is also a plural form for person, used in legal English: These persons present in the court are charged with larceny.
