OK. You have persuaded me.

When I write a business letter to America, I will write the subject line at fist. By letters to Europe I will write the salutation at first.

Can someone tell me, how to write in Asia?

Thanks a lotSmile [:)]

Dany,

I think you are asking if you should use a colon after the person's name in salutation?

Yes.

Dear Mr. Jones:

The purpose of this letter is to provide an example.

Sincerely,
MountainHiker

A colon is used for business, and a comma for personal (or non-business) letters.

Dear Dany,

A comma is used for more informal, more personal exchanges.

Your friend,
MountainHiker

As far as the subject line is concerned, in many letters a subject line is NOT used. I don't like using a subject line and rarely use one.

I hope this helps.

My family has used the 1122 Boogie Boogie Avenue for years. We were surprised when no one else that we questioned seemed to have heard this before. Do you happy to know where this expression (address) originated?

Any info you can give is greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Hi,

CAN YOU NAME/LABEL THE PARTS OF A LETTER?

Your address and date.

If it's a business letter, then name and address of person or company you are writing to.

Greeting (eg Dear Fred,).

Body of letter.

Ending and signature (eg Yours sincerely, Tom Smith or Love, Tom)

Best wishes, Clive
