hi,

Tenses are a tad challenging for most asians. There are many writing genres range from recounts to technical writings. The thing is i'm still struggling to choose which tense to use if let say i write a report. Different tenses are used for different types of essays (according to their formats). Is there any guide or even writing tips that you can recommend me to?

Thanks

.
Tenses are not limited to certain genres of writing at all.  The only related guideline I can think of is that technical writing is heavy on the passive voice-- and that is not necessarily a good stylistic choice.

'The question is,' said Humpty Dumpty, 'which is to be master-- that's all.'
