Hi,
This is a confusing thread, because some people keep asking for information about a 'joining letter', while other people keep saying 'I have no idea what that is'.
For example, why would Salma write a letter like the example she just gave? Why doesn't she just go to work and start to work? Who does she send such a letter to? Does she send it to the President of Uttara University?
Please don't post any more requests for a joining letter until someone can explain what it is.
Thank you,
Clive
Joining letter as I understand is the letter which you write to
1) the clients of the new organisation wherein you inform and seek support
2) the employer wherein you inform that you are joining on so and so date
Thanks for the information. Can you please explain a bit more?
You mean that I join IBM and then write to IBM's clients to tell them that I am a new employee? Would I just do this if I were an IBM salesman? eg Not if I were workinhg in an IBM factory?
I don't understand this. In N. America, either the employer just tells you when he wants you to start, or sometimes you discuss it and decide together. All this is done before you start, so the employer always knows before you actually start.
How does this work in your culture? Do you decide when to start, and then tell the boss?
eg "Dear Mr. Smith, I am going to start work on 1/July/2006"?
Note that in N. America, we don't usually say 'join', we say 'start (work)'.
Best wishes, Clive
