It is two years since you are married.

I learnt that since is used only with `perfect tenses' e.g. (present perfect, present perfect progressive, ...........etc.)

But in the above sentence it has been used with (simple present tense).

So I am confused.

Could assist me on this?

I think because the sentence refers to a period of time instead of the act "marry". The speaker may simply think about the amount of time (since "you were married" time till now).

They're similar:
It is two years since you
were married.
You have been married since 2 years ago / for 2 years.
It's been 2 years since you
were married.( Anyway, I prefer this sentence)

"It is ~" in some constructions can sometimes confuse many English learner. One of my friends asked our teacher why the sentence
"It's Helen." is right. Since he thought that "it" can't be a person. Smile [:)]

Who will believe in you if you don't believe in yourself?
