Hi.

--
Hey Joe, I have voted to your chili before I voted against it.
--
(Joe refers to Joe Biden.)

What does "your chili" mean?

And I found "I voted for you before I voted against you" a quite common expression.
Does it mean that "I had agreed on what you said, but I turned to disagree with you"?

We need a lot more context here.

Is there a chili competition?

It's not uncommon for a politician to vote for a bill one time and against it another time, especially if it changes between the votes, or vice versa.

Barbara, who answers in American English. My housekeeping skills attest to the truth of the second law of thermodynamics: Left to themselves, things get more and more random!

Chili is a kind of stew, spicy with pinto beans and beef.

I voted... This is a reference to the Iraq war. One American politician was trying to appease both the pro-war and anti-war crowd by saying "I voted for the war before I voted against it."

Thanks and sorry. This original posting was not my question.
I asked the guy who asked for the meaning of the sentence to give me the link of the photo, but he did not give me a response...
