Reading MM's answer, I understood that if you are not a registered member that also contributes here in EF, chances are you wouldn't be allowed to post a link to your website. But since I've always seen a lot of people posting links everywhere, anons included, I reversed the intended meaning... asking if it was really that way. In particular, I decided to ask about that because I had just seen this (and I also checked out that website, neuroword): http://tinyurl.com/yvl4ok

Well, that was posted by an anon, and MM rewrote the URL. By the way, a thing just noticed, the anon just above is actually giving the link to their own site, or so they say.
I hope you understand why I asked MM about that, and my face was like when I read his reply, lol.
So my experience in this forum told me that links to ESL material were probably ok and welcome, provided they were links to free stuff... that's what I thought.

Kooyeen, I think you deliberately chose the opposite of Mr. M's intended meaning. Registered members who are active, positive contributors to the forums are more likely to have their posts that link to a Web site approved.

Please feel free to let us know about links from anonymous members that are intended to direct us to their personal Web sites, and we'll address them. (Using a link to show an aritcle that a confusing passage was taken from, or a site that was helpful, is not the same thing.)

what do you mean? That registered members can't post any links and anonymous users are the privileged ones?
Because this forum is actually full of links posted by anonymous users or "baby-members"...

Heh, that's something I've always wanted to know. I asked at least a couple of times but no one wanted to answer me and completely ignored me. I hope no one anwers you either, otherwise I think I'll start to cry, because it's not fair.
Annyway, I think you can't post any links or material if they are related to:

- illegal stuff (ex: download of copyrighted material, scams, etc.)
- obscene stuff (ex: porn, etc.)
- completely off topic stuff (ex: stupid stories about Britney Spears in thread about grammar, etc.)
- non-free stuff (ex: services you have to pay for, etc.)

So I guess you can post any link to ESL stuff you want (learners might enjoy them), provided there's a reasonable amount of free stuff to check out.

Hi, just wondering what the rules were concerning posting links in this forum (don't want to step on any toes)

My name is Ryan and I am a Canadian English teacher currently living and working in Shanghai. I have created a little website with some friends that has a handful of MP3 lessons and we are hoping to get some videos up soon too.

Would it be alright if I posted a link here?

Any info appreciated!
