 In British English, you would say "I had the chance of a lifetime..." 
 You could also say "You don't have much chance of becoming prime minister"; "I haven't had a chance to look at your homework". 
 Another idiom: "there's not much chance of that happening!"

 I had my chances. I had a chance of lifetime to make millions, but I blew it. Given a fair chance, I believe your daughter will excel in school.
