In Whatever Your Name Is , Netafura Yokohama approached to Gagohamo Mortimo with "angry eyes, and said, 'kiss my butt'." Angry eyes, and said, "kiss my butt." is the direct quote, but since I already used double quotes to cite this quote, then the double quotes that surround kiss my butt becomes single quotes.
