We have quite a few practical jokers in our building at work. You wouldn't believe the shenanigans they get up to, especially on April Fool's Day.

Teacher to class before she has to leave for a few days, leaving the class in the care of a subsitute teacher: Try to keep the shenanigans to a minimum while I'm gone, guys!

You got the spelling fine, except that it's always plural -- shenanigans. It means mischief, fooling around, misbehaving in a complicated, energetic way. Like "fooling around," it could have a sexual connotation or not, depending on context.
