Please allow me to pitch in my 2 cents. âAbuseâ is any form of mistreatment which can be verbal, physical, mental and lastly sexual in nature. It depends on how itâs used in the context.

Sexual abuse is always associated with a certain degree of violence. On the other hand, a child may not necessarily be physically beaten in a child abuse case. They may be neglected or locked up in a house but nonetheless, itâs still abuse.

I would say so. The mental state of the recipient may even cause a misinterpretation of the contact.

As I've said, abusive does not necessarily mean physical violence. The attacker may abuse his/her authority over the victim or abuse the trust of the victim. Yes, I'd also think that any type of non-consensual contact is likely to be considered abusive.

where abusive sexual contact would apply?

BAsed on your explanation, you seem to suggest that rape is a case of abusive sexual contact.

Violence, is well, violent. Abusive sexual contact may not necessarily be violent. Rape may or may not be violent. Another name for rape is non-consensual sex. The key is whether the party involved consent to the act. Raping someone using so called date rape drug often does not involve violence.

EDIT:

Abusive does not necessarily mean physical violence. Leaving a little child at home alone for a long time with no food is an abusive act. Using different means of coersion to force someone to have sex is abusive even though no violence is involved.

Is there any significant difference between abusive sexual contact and sexual violence?

Which category should rape fall under? What about groping breasts? (sorry, I can't find an educated phrase to describe this act. I'd appreciate if you could tell me.)
