The idiom is "to take one's word (for it)". Not words. The meaning of word in this idiom is more like promise or pledge or what the person says. it can be interpreted as the truth. You can take my word for it is thus You can take what I say for the truth. The idiom means that you can trust the person; you can be sure that he is honest, that he is telling the truth.

Don't just take my word for it; try it for yourself. = Don't trust what I say; try it for yourself.

Take my word for it; the answer is 12. = You can trust that I am honest when I say that the answer is 12.

You can take her word for it = You can trust her; you can trust what she says.

Hi,Blackcheetah.Take one's at his(her) word means you believe ine's word at once without any doubts.

For example:You can take my words for it I'm a man of honour.

"Don't take one's word for it" is used when you're advised not to believe immediately on someone's words.

You shouldn't take his word for it because he hoaxed me scores of times.

Take one's words for it: It's all right to believe one's words.
But what is the meaning of "Don't Take One's Word for It"?
I often saw it on a ad post.
