Yes, humans swim in water. You only really use 'on' for something that is almost completely on the surface - mainly birds.

on the pound would be correct.

But do not say, I swim on the water... rather, I swim in the water

i'd rather choose on..

but i would not say, "I swim on the water" but "I swim in the water"

This reminds me of a question asked in an exam in which only one answer is accepted.

The duck is swimming__ the pond.

A. on

B. in

C. at

What then is the most appropraite.
All three seems fine to me but like i have said only one is accepted.

Experts please help.

on, as ducks float and we don't think of them as being actually 'in' the water.

Which is correct.

1. the duck is swimming in the pond, or

2. the duck is wimming on the pond.
