Write the following sentences in indirect speech.

1. The president declared:" We shall not give up?"

2. He asked: "What is our plan?"

3: They answered: "We went home at five o'clock?"

4. She asked: "Shall I bring you a glass of lemonade?"

5. They will answer: "No, we did not do it."

6. He said: " My friend is just coming."

7. They replied: " We would not have done it."

8. His wife said to him: "This is very kind of you."

9. The typist wanted to know. "Shall I write the letter myself?"

You should try to do this yourself in future and others will help you with your errors.

1. "They were all writing when I arrived", she said. -> She said that they were all writing when she arrived.

2. "I have had a rest and soon I must start work again", he said. -> He said that he had had a rest and that he should soon start work again.

3. "I can see that someone has told you", she said to him. -> She said to him that she could see that someone had told him.

4. "You shall have your dinner as soon as I return", promised her mother. -> Her mother promised that she/she/I/we would have her/her/my/our dinner as soon as she [her mother] returned. "You" is ambiguous in the source. Antecedent problem.

5. "The sun is becoming cooler all the time", said the professor. -> The professor said that the sun was becoming cooler all the time.
