Write down the phrases and words you have to look up in the dictionary. Learn these words and phrases before you start on your next translation. If you have a Walkman, record the words on a cassette with their meanings, and listen to them when you're travelling, or before you go to sleep.

You could select passages of the following kinds:

1. Newspaper report.
2. Magazine article.
3. Fiction.
4. Business website.
5. Advert.
6. Film review.

The important thing is that you choose lots of different kinds of material. That way, you'll build up your vocabulary.

If there are words or phrases you can't find in the dictionary, or which you don't understand, post them here, and someone will help you.

MrP
Re: Phrases

I need to extend my vocabulary.

Re: Phrases

It sounds like part of the stage patter of a very dubious hypnotist, Aastha...

I'm not sure where you would find phrases like this.
