It is difficult to argue what the longest word is. It all depends on what you concider a word. There is a protein with over 189,819 letters and a medical term with 183 letters. Longest place name = 85. Coined word = 45. Non-coined = 30. Nontechnical = 29.

According to Wikipedia, pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosis is the longest word to appear in an English dictionary.

The Longest word in the english langege is the the full chemical name for the protien Titin, its full chemical name contains 189,819 letters (look it up on Wikipedia if you don't belive me, don't try a dictionary, it won't be in there) here is the link to where I found it out: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Longest_word_in_English

supercalifragilisticexpialidocious is not a real word,but it is jibberish a real word that is about that long is antidistestablishmentarianism, which has three less letters.

YES, THE LAST POST WAS CORRECT. IT'S A MEDICAL TERM AND HAS OVER 1900 LETTERS IN IT. I ALWAY'S THOUGHT IT WAS THE SUPERCALA FRA---- OR ANTIDISISSTAPLIMENTIMTERRIAISM OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT.
