'She did well on the exam.' -- this is the expected form.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;2 .'She did well in the exam.' -- this is clear also, but suggests that the speaker imay be thinking of parts of the exam, hence 'in' the exam.  No major difference, to me.
