I see sentences like " The first edition ended in 2Kings with a description of Joshua's retaking of part of the promised land." I had no trouble understanding the meaning but trying to find a quote from a dictionary proved harder that I expected. I finally found this: during the course of The "new era" is entered into "during the course of" the development of Yahwistic faith." Saying "in developing Yahwistic faith" conveys the wrong meaning, it implies that the development is under human control, which of course it is not. I just can't understand this sentence. When I see a sentence with "in", I think about inside, or situations as shown in dictionary, and I had a hard time understanding this sentence with in.
