However, in the plural form, the word &amp;quot;competencies&amp;quot; is used far more often than &amp;quot;competences&amp;quot;. Thus, there is a noticeable grammatical difference: the word &amp;quot;competency&amp;quot; is more likely to be used as a countable noun.
