I know the meaning of the whole phrase "work their way into the good willl of the natives, but why does it mean so. Could you explain it word by word or litterally so that I can get the hang of it? Hi,
Does the bolded part in the above mean "work hard in order to win the hearts of the good-will natives?" If not, what does it mean? Thanks.
