Do I like it?.....not really in fact. I mulled over what You said and I'm obliged to agree with your statement about being a polish foreigner. It can't be nice for anybody to hear such opinions about our country - Poland. Here we can see how powerful a stereotype is...Poles have already been appraised. However I proud of being a Polish, having our history, culture cousine and hospitality! Moreover, i'm glad we are one of the biggests vodka producents in Europe.

What you said about Poland producing good cars...that's a good point I belive;) My dream is to drive a polish car which could be known in other countries. FSO after a huge complications with DEAWOO and MG ROVER is declining more and more...unfortunately...You know,we could have become a power,but some people just let the chance slip by....we had Warszawa, polish Fiat 125,126...and others...Our high technological development seemed to be beneficial. Maybe in next 10 years..who knows?

It's Leszek. Obviously, alcohol is for people (drunk in moderation), but being a Polish guy and
living abroad sometimes is not that pleasant. I'm just sick of being looked upon as a person who MUST drink a lot because i'm polish. That was nice at the beginning but if you lived abroad, Marcin, you would be angry as well. Almost everyone thinks: you're polish so you
drink a lot of vodka, and they treat you almost like a drunkard. It is not nice, Marcin. You can
laugh at it when you live among other Poles, but when you live here, among people from other countries, it's something you don't feel comfortable about.
The other thing is that there are hundreds of Poles here who like it. They are proud of drinking.
When asked: you're polish, so you drink a lot of vodka, don't you?
they answer: yes... yes... vodka..... i like vodka.... yes .....a lot (with a really stupid smile on
their face).
It's sad. Is there anything else that we can give the world? Is this only vodka we are famous for? Apparently, it is.

I'd love to meet, say, a frenchman, or a German, or whoever and say proudly: I'm polish.
and they would say: you're polish? oh, you produce good cars.... or.... i like your cousine....
or.... you have a wonderful football team or you have amazing writers, or whatever positive.
NO!
the only thing i can expect is : 'you are polish. aaaah vodka'!

Hi leszek!
I know that the stereotype about polish people is awful, but sometimes it's better to take some things easy and laught at them. My mother used to said that "Vodka is for people".Drinking vodka has origins is polish and russian culture so i don't understand why do you make such a noise about that case. For example, in other european countries such as France or Spain there is no such a custom...But i agree with you not to boast about drinking in the web. But as I wrote, vodka is for poeple and i DON'T consider that as a bad behaviour at all!

My name is Leszek. I'm from Poland as well (currently I live in Manchester)
I have one suggestion for you, Marcin.
Try not to strengthen the mistaken stereotype that all Polish people like drinking.
I don't. Most of my Polish friends don't, either.
Perhaps, because you live in Poland, you don't care about the international opinion
about our coutrymen, but I do care about it. And I'm fed up with our national stereotype.
Every time someone learns i'm from poland, they ask: "so you must like vodka?!"
It's really tireing and untrue. If you want to boast about your drinking, maybe you can
write that you like drinking. (by the way, there's nothing to boast about)

Byc moze ty mieszkajac w polsce nie dbasz o nasza opinie na swiecie, ale ja dbam.
Mam dosc juz naszego stereotypu. Za kazdym razem gdy ktos dowiaduje sie,
ze jestem z polski, pytaja sie: 'a wiec musisz lubiec wodke?!?'
to naprawde meczace i nieprawdziwe. jesli chcesz sie chwalic sie piciem, moze napisz, ze ty lubisz pic. (tak przy okazji nie ma sie czym chwalic).
Zrob ta przysluge innym rodakom za granica i nie psuj nam i tak nie najlepszej opinii.
