The thing bout writing a song is the whole emotion about it. You first need to pick your title....something catchy rite. then from the title u write tyhe chorus. Then from the chorus u write the lyrics. ofcourse it dosnt need to always go in that order. But it is a guideline to follow. most important thing in a song. Emotion. In order to really capture an audiencce or the person u are singin for.....u need them to feel wat u are singin. Writing a song for some people can take 5 monutes others it wan take awhile. After u write it though rember then there is the music behind it. So while your writin it u want some sortta beat. so good luck.

Re: Pointers on writing songs?

im tryin to write a song about somebody i love and still care about but i dont kno how to write a song please can u help me and my friend are going into the studio dis summa and i want to have some material b4 we go our theme is love songs, heartbreak and girls findin the strength to move on

Re: Pointers on writing songs?

hey me and my mates are a new band and we need a couple of songs to get us going because we cant think of lyrics, can you help us?

Re: Pointers on writing songs?

i need to write raps for my college class and i need help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Pointers on writing songs?

I'm writin like a slow acoustic song and can't find anything good to write bout. sometimes the words you write are influenced by how long the chorus or the verse is. it also goes the other way around.

1) write when you are up or down (emotionally).
2) once you start, new ideas for new songs will come into your mind just write them down for the future , they'll serve you.
3) forget about the time
4) write all the lyrics that come to your mind once you start, you'll always have enough time to delete what you don't like.
5) try to forget the songs you like and do what you are good at (don't try to play eric clapton if you have a beginner's level), and never compare your songs to those of your idols.

You should probably decided what the song is about before you write them. This may take awile. Grab your guitar (or whatever you play) and sit down and put words to the music. Or, even better, jam with other people and brainstorm for lyrics. Just remember it takes tiime. It's nice to see that people still WRITE songs other than me.

Re: Pointers on writing songs?

1. keep songs from becoming overly cheesy 2. let songs have a main chorus or story line instead of rambling 3. dont accidently take lyrics from others

Pointers on writing songs?

Hey everyone, I'm a songwriter trying to improve.
