Our English teacher speaks with a notable Russian accent and is trying to impose it on us, so no one can explain correct British English phonetics to me. The very few phonetics-related books that are available are by Russian authors and the description of sounds that they give is VERY weird.  I try to do my best to improve my pronunciation - I watch a lot of British TV and I listen to tapes for about 2 hours a day and try to imitate them, but it's difficult because I don't know how exactly to pronounce the sounds and I have miserable imitation skills.
