For the most part your post was thoughtful and loving. We hear a lot of religious viewpoints from the Catholics, the Muslims and others. Throughout history, and even today, free-thinkers could not give opinions for fear of being punished in some way. So I'm sorry If I came across too strongly! I hope your path leads you in the right direction; and you succeed in your endeavour.. Peace be with you, much love and happiness!

Re: Mankind’s need for religion

Thank you, dear brother

Re: Mankind’s need for religion

I hope one day mankind can move beyond all this and truly understand the universe that God created is one of love, not fear. We are not God's slaves, this is not a universe of slavery and rules - it is most likely a universe of love and forgiveness. Nobody needs to teach me that, nobody needs to teach anybody that. Your world religions (most of them) are appauling, they preach fear and retribution. Stop speaking in the name of God - it's blasphemy.

Mankind’s need for religion

Mankind’s need for religion Why do people need religion? Isn’t it enough to have (man-made) laws that will regulate people’s lives? Praise be to Allaah. Man’s need for religion is greater than his need for any of the other necessities of life, because man needs to know what pleases Allaah and what angers Him; he needs to acts in his own interests and to ward off things that will harm him. Sharee’ah is what distinguishes between actions that will bring benefit and actions that will cause harm. This is Allaah’s justice towards His creation, and His light which shines for His slaves. People cannot live without laws (sharee’ah) to help them distinguish between what they should and should not do. Because man has a will, he...
