I picture two things: one is that each fruit has different kinds of trees and so more than three trees are there. The other picutre is that only three trees -- one plum tree, one apple tree, and one pear tree -- are there. Is one of my guesses right? And the singular form of 'tree' in the sentence makes me doubt whether it is an error for the plural form 'trees' or whether there is another meaning in the singular form. If there's anyone who would tell me their opinion, I would welcome it.
