&lt;p&gt;As a stage direction, &amp;#39;exit stage left&amp;#39; is used in many plays.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;However, when&amp;nbsp;used in this way in conversation, &amp;#39;exit stage left&amp;#39; simply means that someone leaves quickly without any explanation.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;eg I saw Mary coming, and I really didn&amp;#39;t want to talk to her, so I exited stage left.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;It&amp;#39;s a slightly humorous expression.&lt;/p&gt;
