I am the applicant Huangbo, graduating from SHENZHEN POLYTECHNIC with a Diploma degree of City Garden. Driven by my keen interest in business field and in order to scale a higher intellectual height, I would like to apply for the Graduate Certificate in Management with English Language program that the University of Exeter offers.

I always full of passion on what I am interested in, and never stop until the pursue peaks of the field. Moreover, I am good in communicating and organizing. These skills and abilities were given by the experience as a member working in student union in university. There, I had opportunity to communicate kinds of people and organize different activities. Consequently, these give me confident to be a good manager in future, and want to get further education in this area.

Even though I am not a student graduated from management field, but the interest in this area was driven by my part-time job as a promotion manager in an advertising company in the past two years. I was mainly responsible for strategic promotion campaigns for the clients. At the beginning, I was reluctant to join because I doubt, "Why do I need to join in an association in which is not my original study field?" But, as time went on, I found I liked this job, and have developed a solid foundation in teamwork, management, and problem solving skills.

In the company, I was promoted to be a leader in a team within the first eleven months. I am mainly responsible for strategizing promotion campaigns for our clients. I also took responsibility for training new staffs representatives and assessing their performance. I achieved good performance with my team. Two of my most memorable accomplishments were designing a promotion campaign and exploit a new region for my client.

This position has given me the opportunity to interact with companies from all over the world, such as SONY, IBM, and Lenovo, thereby expanded my merchant perspective. This experience provided me with a variety of new skills: managing expenses, marketing, training and managing a sales force, and overseeing all administrative functions. The boss was impressed with my work and asks me to come back when I was graduate.

After finishing a degree with good average grades, I chosen a professional marketing certificate program to gain marketing skills, and then returned to the previous company. However, this time, I found I still lack some essential knowledge in business methods, especially in Financial Management, Human Resource Management, and Marketing Management. Even though I got some experience of this job, but I was not a graduate from business study who was lack of some academic knowledge in this area. Therefore, I planed to get further education of business and finance study in UK. As a non-business study graduate, it is not easy to handle the master study in business area directly. And I found the Management with English Language program provided by Exeter University could be very helpful for me to do some preparation for my master study. Therefore, I am eager to join in the program.

Throughout my life, I have always sought greater intellectual stimulation, and I believe there will be nothing that blocks my pursuit of new theory and knowledge. Furthermore, this program of Exeter will give me the practical experience to complement the thorough academic education I asked for. Particularly, this search has typically entailed abandonment of the familiar to pursue the unknown. With its tutorial system, Exeter will continuously force me to abandon the passive process of absorbing knowledge in favor of the dynamic approach of constantly challenging my tutorâs assumptions. Besides, through my experience as a manager and team-leader, I have confidence that I can complete this program with an excellent achievement. And, in my business pursuits, I will continue to adopt this risk-taking approach and will not rest until I reach my maximum level of accomplishment.
