Thank you for your quick response and your work on the letter! Sorry, for not saying this earlier, but I spend some time abroad with no real internet access...

I see, there are a lot of mistakes which I shouldn't have made... so, even more 'thanks' that you had the patience to correct them! ;-)

I have to translate a certificate which is given to the trainee (or intern) at the end of the internship from german to english. I am really not happy with my result jet, especially because I have the impression that I keep on formulating in a very 'german' way. ;-)

Maybe some of you can have a look at it and make some suggestions. The formal german way of writing such things is very formalized and therefore there are a lot of expressions which are difficult to translate literally. I think someone with a view "from outside" would be helpful!

Thanks a lot in advance!

Marmotte

Ok, here it comes:

...[Name], born on the ... at ... worked from the ... [date] until the … [date] as a trainee in my office … .

During this time [Name] gained a broad insight in the work of … .

She was concerned with the handling of inquiries of citizens, public institutions and undertakings, which partly demanded extensive research concerning the legal situation within the European area.

[Name] participated in committee meetings which she minuted for me. Her research work concerning regional, agricultural and economic policies were particulary commendable, as well as her elaborations with regard to the topics X, Y and Z.

Handling the tasks confided to her, [Name] demonstrated dedicated commitment as well as a strong sence of responsibility and teamwork capability.

The work with computer, internet and email was a self-evident, common task for her. Extensive knowledge of foreign languages supported the quality of her elaborations.

She has always managed the various tasks conferred to her to my utmost satisfaction. She has an obliging appearance. Due to her friendly and helpful personality, the collaboration with her was very comfortable.

I wish [Name] personally all the best and continued success in business and in life.

_______

If it is helpful I can post the original certificate in german as well, of course.
