I have recently decided to make coaching a career. I have thought about this a long time and put a lot of research into it. I believe this is the right choice for me. Unfortunately, I have been thinking about it so long that I havn't done any coaching or basketball oriented activities in a number of years (I am 23 now) and no longer have any contacts in the basketball field.

I wish to write letters to coaches and their assistants asking them for any help they may be able to give me in succeeding in my new career choice. For example, I am looking to find out such things as:
How do I find basketball programs that I can volunteer at?
Are their any college courses that are nessassary or beneficial?
What first steps should I take to get noticed and employed in the field?

I have only a high school education and do not have the confidence to simply spit out a letter like this. I am not asking for someone to write this letter for me, although if you would like to, please go right ahead =). I am looking for format and content ideas that would be beneficial.

All help in making this letter possible will be sincerely appreciated.

Thank you very much,

Chris Murphy
