I am currently studying computer science at the University of Applied Sciences in xxx.

I am applying to the DAAD Summer Institute Programme in order to get work experience in Taiwan.

The main reason for me that makes me want to take part in this program is that I want to acquire in-depth knowledge about Taiwan. I am highly interested in the Asian culture in general and working habits in a Taiwanese company in particular.
Bearing in mind, that I intend to work in Asia after graduating from university I would love to take this opportunity to gain work experience. This intent – working in Asia – came up during a seven-month stay in Japan where I accomplished an internship for a big German company.
As I know that there might be a lot of cultural differences between Germany and Taiwan I want to get a more detailed insight into how life – especially working life – in Taiwan looks like. In addition working abroad is a great opportunity for me to widen my horizon and I am sure it will help me to reach my goal which is offering my future employer the benefit of my international experience in addition to my professional knowledge.

During my studies I already had two internships that helped me to enhance my theoretical knowledge with practical experiences. I completed my first internship in an IT company in Germany where I learned how to work as a part of a team in a big IT project. After another year of studying I had the opportunity to arrange the above mentioned internship in Japan where I received my first profound impressions of working abroad. Despite some difficulties like language problems, I fulfilled my obligations, namely the analysis, organisation, development and deployment of an electronic spare parts catalogue. Since I was the project manager for this catalogue, I was able to obtain experience in being responsible for a certain task and to organize everything in order to make it successful. For reaching my goal I furthermore needed the cooperation and participation of my co-workers who were essential for completing my job. This proofs my skills in communicating, leading as well as in solving problems and organizing.
As a result of studying computer science for up to now seven semesters, I acquired a wide spread of knowledge in this field and moreover carried out several projects together with fellow students. In addition to programming languages like Java or the .NET framework, I acquired analytical skills in Software Engineering. XML as well as databases like IBM DB2 or MySql are something I am familiar with. Due to my passion for meeting challenges I am always interested in new fields and see this as a chance to improve my competence. So far, I have focussed on web development using J2EE techniques like Struts, Servlets, JSP, EJBs and XML with any kind of relational or object relational databases.

With my firm academic background as well as a solid track record of work experience I am sure your company will benefit from my knowledge and abilities. I am confident that an Internship in Taiwan will provide me with the knowledge, confidence, and contacts to realize my dreams.
Thank you very much for considering my request. I look forward to your positive response.

Sincerely yours,

Thx - chokoreto
Help with letter of motivation

Hello out there!

I want to apply for an internship offering in Taiwan that will be assigned via DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service).
