These may include serious problems such as alcoholism, abuse, or cheating spouses. These couples end up in a divorce because they can no longer live together in harmony. A wife or husband may have changed in ways that the other could not adapt. Some couples may have simply drifted apart over time and find that they no longer love each other as they once did. Statistics show that one of the most causes of the divorce is financial difficulty. One thing that has come up numerous times in research is that money causes the most stress for married couples. According to PREP (Prevention and Relationship Enhancement Program), money is said to start more arguments than any other topic. Citibank also states that their research shows money to be the leading cause of divorce (“Money…” 128).
