If you have any further questions, do not hesitate to ask me.I will try my best to improve it .Thanks a lot.

Dear Sir or Madam:

I am writing to you to apply for your Master programme “Economics of International Trade and European Integration”. I will successfully complete my bachelor degree in June next year and I am committed and motivated to graduate study afterwards.

Growing up in a beautiful seaside city where trade with other Asian countries especially Japan and Korea has developed quickly since China’s policy of Reforming and Opening up was adopted, I am greatly excited by our new open environment and have had a strong interest in international trade from an early age. Consequently, the idea of engaging in such trade has become a beacon in the ocean of my life, indicating the direction not only my study but also of my future career when I encounter important choices.

In fact, such a powerful enthusiasm and interest actually originated by chance from a successful and impressive experience. Once my father was doing business with a Korean, however, the translator was not available because of something important. I volunteered to be their translator because of my strong curiosity, though I did not really know what trade was all about. To my surprise, I was so excited to realize how fascinating the process was: Expressing their demands and statements, discussing, bargaining, making concessions and signing the final contract. Then a deal was done after such a long, complex and intense process but one that was interesting and almost incredible to my eyes. Not only was I proud of myself for being able to act as the translator because of my good ability at mastering English as well as my extrovert personality but I also set a goal for my life — doing business with people all over the world not just in Asia.

Naturally, I chose International Trade as my major at university, an opportunity for me to learn the basic theory and policies of International Trade. In my economics class, I learned how prices, preferences, and incomes affect people’s demand for goods. I also acquired knowledge of how various factors - government policies, currency exchange rates and balance of international trade - affect a country’s economic growth. After more than three years’ study, I realize that trade is a process where people communicate with each other and make progress simultaneously, a true meaning of “Economic Globalization”. Therefore, I have now decided to study aboard to avoid being narrow-minded and short-sighted. Having basic knowledge will be a solid foundation to allow me to better continue my further study and become more expert in International Trade.

It is worth mentioning that a memorable experience in the university confirmed my motivation to continue my study and empowered me with strength and courage. Once our class was divided into several groups and asked to perform several surveys, discuss case by case then form a conclusion about “what is the most important factor in International Trade”. Unlike other groups who worked separately and ineffectively, I insisted on team-work and properly organized and comprehensive investigations. In my own opinion, imagination was the leading factor but initially others did not agree with me. After long time spent discussing and listening to each other’s views, my opinion came to win general agreement and attracted favourable compliments from our teachers. I become more confident and assured that I am suitable to do work relevant to international trade, a profession which requires the ability to communicate with and persuade others as well as the gift of observing things differently and creatively.

As I have stated, I am a very serious, goal-oriented individual motivated to evolve constantly and to equip myself with the knowledge and power to succeed in the future. One of my goals is to work in different departments of an international company. Furthermore, I long for the opportunity to work with people from all kinds of cultures. Without doubt, your programme of “Economics of International Trade and European Integration” will be a marvelous opportunity for me to master such a combination of knowledge and cultures as not only to advance my career but also to enrich my thinking and to give me even more exposure to diverse cultural backgrounds.

Finally, let me reiterate my passionate desire to participate in your programme. Please find enclosed a copy of my resume with additional information about my qualifications. Thank you for your consideration and I look forward to receiving your favourable reply.
