During his last one year at ABC he was working as a Project Manager of Software Development Section in our company. ABC has almost 350 employees in different departments like Accounts Dept., Network Dept., Data Entry Dept., Validation Dept. and Software Development Dept. AOS has more than 60 employees in Software Development Dept. with the following hierarchy. Mr. Sheikh joined our company as Junior Software Engineer in January 2001 for software development. However, in a very short span of time he proved his technical and administrative skills. Mr. Mohammad Haris Sheikh is a responsible, hard working and honest person in performing his duties. The management was highly pleased and satisfied with his performance. As Junior Software Engineer his responsibilities included: Development using Microsoft Technologies like Visual Basic 6.0, ASP (Active Server Pages), XML and Microsoft SQL Server. He was also interested to take part in designing and documenting of the project by using the tool UML (Rational Rose 2000). It is our company policy that we have 6 months probation period for new hiring but on the basis of his extra ordinary performance and good technical skills, he got the confirmation letter from ABC within 3 months. In September 2001, ABC got a contract of UK based company; APL Pvt. Ltd to develop paperless virtual back office system. Mr. Mohammad Haris Sheikh worked along with a team of three developers and one team lead over a period of one year and successfully deployed the solution. His duties mainly included development and considering his exceptional database design skills he was also responsible for the database design. He also took part in communication with the client for requirement specification. In January 2002, acknowledging his achievements and contributions towards the significant development for information technology he was promoted as Software Engineer. Now his responsibilities were: preparing the Detail Design Specification document, communicating design with other developers, participating in development as well by using the tools Microsoft SQL Server 2000, VB 6.0, XML, ASP and UML. Participating in project documentation and to participate in the meetings with clients was also included in his responsibility. In August 2002 ABC got a contract of another UK based company (GGP PLC.) to develop their Accounting, Payroll and Financial systems. To hire the resources for their development ABC conducted in house competition to check the analytical, designing and development capabilities. Mr. Haris Sheikh was among top three employees appeared in that competition. So Mr. Sheikh was moved to team for our GGP project and promoted as Senior Software Engineer. Now his responsibilities were: correspondence with our UK clients, understanding their requirements, preparing the documents for their requirements, designing the system according to their requirements, getting approval from the client and develop it. He developed the system for our UK client by using the tool ASP and on the back end by using SQL Server 2000. By the end of 2003 ABC won one of the major software projects contract in Pakistan that was computerization of Land Record. Mr. Mohammad Haris Sheikh was given the responsibility to manage the team for the web component of this critical system and he was promoted as Team Lead. His responsibilities were: meeting with clients for preparing requirement specification document, functional specification, project plan, maintaining schedule for rest of the team members, designing the architecture of application and managing the whole team as well. In October 2004, ABC participated in GITEX; one of the world biggest IT exhibition help every year at Dubai, to present its products. Being one of the most key resources at ABC, Mr. Mohammad Haris Sheikh was selected to represent ABC at the exhibition and he very successfully performed his duties of meeting with the visitors and explaining them about the services provided by ABC. In November 2004 ABC started development of a product named UREMIS and keeping in view the leadership, motivating, analytical and designing capabilities of Mr. Mohammad Haris Sheikh, he was appointed its Project Manager. He worked tirelessly with his team to produce a prototype. After the completion of the prototype he was responsible to give presentations to the perspective clients, as a result ABC won projects computerize and reengineer the processes of LMN, Karachi in Feburary 2005 and PQR, Lahore in July 2006. Being project manager of the product Mr. Mohammad Haris Sheikh was responsible for recruitment of the team, monitoring day to day functions of the Project, defining standards and processes, supervising and guiding the project team, monitoring and evaluating the progress. He was actively involved in the day to day administration of the activities, appraisal of staff performance, coordinating and managing the overall performance of the staff. Since the inception of his appointment, he has been taking his assignments as a challenge with an out come of Zero Level complaints from the system and the operational staff. By implementing a continuous improvement strategy he has virtually made his department an example for the other departments of our company. Playing a pivotal player of managing and developing different types of software’s he has successfully trained his sub-ordinates and coached software development staff with excellent precision in recognition of which he has been appraised excellent by the senior management. He has redesigned and reengineered the software development infrastructure and procedures to meet the intense and ever increasing demand of latest technologies of Information technology. Mr. Mohammad Haris Sheikh possesses quite a strong base and technical skill in Software Project Management and has contributed a lot towards the development of this particular area of Information Technology.
