Good afternoon to you all! I was wondering if I should use a hyphen in expressions such as: A 2-day vacation / A 12-inch gear / A 10-wheeler truck / Etc. What's the grammar rule for this? Thanks for your usual help!

Hi, I need to write out this number: 1/365. I know that 1/5 is "one-fifth" so then should I write out 1/365 as "one-three-hundred-sixty-fifth"? That seems like a lot of hyphens... Can anyone help? If I had to write it, for clarity I would write it as one three-hundred-and-sixty-fifth....

Hi JMello33Welcome to the Forums. As you said, all versions are used, and all are fine by me. However, I would prefer the hyphenated expressions as the hyphen makes it easier for the reader to understand what is meant.CheersCB

Hi, It's not really restricted to a commercial context. eg in an office: Employee: Do you want me to add that to the contract? Boss: No, just leave it as is. (ie don't change it) It's a pretty common expression. I'd write it without the hyphen. Best wishes, Clive
