It DOESN'T sound like 'noun'. It's pronounced the way it looks: 'pro-nun-iation', with the 'u' sounding as in 'fun', 'nun' and 'bun'. Only ill-educated people, such as television weather forecasters and traffic journalists, say 'pronounciation'.
