pool / was evaporating This sentence sounds a bit odd, however, as water is normally in a state of evaporating, much like grass growing or paint drying.

A pool of water was evaportaing in the sun.

My understanding of the "simple predicate" is that it includes auxiliary verbs, so "will be writing."

What about this: We will be writing outlines today. Is the simple predicate just "writing" or "will be writing"? Please explain. Thank you for your help!
