In tehnical fields, and in business generally, it is not unusual for people to try to use a noun as a verb. Sometimes the meaning is clear. This time, to me, it isn't.

"After-effects of Marijuana" is correct. after-effect is a noun but there is no word After-affects. And you are right effect can be used a noun bu affect not.

It is the object of the verb. Verb objects are nouns, noun phrases or noun clauses. Ergo, it is a gerund (an '-ing' verb form acting as a noun.) (This conversation started HERE .)

If I may butt in, it's a gerund because it's a noun substitute. You need "a thing". CJ
