By Present simple

At the moment I'm writing a thesis and want to know whether in the Introduction part I should write my sentences using a form of the future, eg. "In chapter 2 an overview will be given". Or the present simple, eg. "In chapter 2 an overview is given". Can someone help please?

You're welcome! One thing, though: the use of the present simple here implies that you are describing a process (e.g. in the preamble to a dissertation). Is that your context? MrP
