I've been taught that " tissue " is an uncountable noun. So how come I read some books saying " a tissue ? Is it just ok?

Hi Anon, The word "treachery" is not plural. It is grammatically singular, and it is also an uncountable noun. Basically, you can compare it to the way the word "information" is used. You cannot say "an information"

No, you can't have smaller waste because 'waste' is an uncountable noun. You can have a smaller amount of waste, or you can have less waste. Not 'lesser'.
