In British accent^x, Spelling^x

In words which have the phonetic sound / ae/ , I hear the real differences between American and British Accent. If in British they spell that phonetic sound similar to /a/, American would do with a sound like /e/, isn't it?Some words such as slang, man etc. I wonder why they use the /ae/...

To tell you the truth, I've never heard any foreigner (unless they learned English when they were very young, or had lived in an English speaking country for at least a decade, and had extensive, and personalized accent coaching) ever be able to pull off either an American or British accent....

At least as far as accents go (not words or spelling) it's really too simplistic to talk about "American" English or "British" English etc as if they were seperate. "RP" English is in fact a lot closer to New England American than it is to - say - Scouse (Liverpool) or Geordie (Newcastle, N.E....

I prefer British accent & spelling, it sounds more formal. Conversely, American accent sounds freer.

Hi Brit, and welcome to the forums. the americans truelly dont have much of an accent I find that assertion difficult to understand. Surely every speaker of any language has some sort of accent which enables us to identify their place of origin? I think you need to pay a little more attention...
