I will appreciate any suggestions and comments to improve it. Thanks in advance!

Some notes:

COUNTRY_NAME = my resident country

XYZ = employer's name

*************************************************

Dear Sir or Madam,

I would like to apply for a position of Project Manager / Multimedia Developer (reference no. 00000) as advertised on XYZ’s on-line vacancy bulletin.

I first became interested in multimedia development and web-based applications twelve years ago. Since 2001, I am working as a project manager and developer in a leading internet agency in my country. As of March 2004, I am in charge for communication, management and execution of all online activities of ABC_CORPORATION in COUNTRY_NAME. The list of my responsibilities includes communication with the HQ office and local companies, website design, content development and update, adaptation of various online/ offline campaigns and presentations, research and invention of new channels for communication with target audience. During my practice I have developed a vast range of skills, for example: analysing complex numerical and verbal information, clear, concise writing for different contexts, working enthusiastically and productively under pressure, dealing professionally with a wide range of people, working in a variety of teams and on my own initiative, overcoming obstacles. I am comfortable in sourcing and handling data electronically. Making movies like the Flash presentation I've attached as a sample of my work is such an enjoyable experience, because I know how to turn content requirements into a multimedia concept by selecting the most appropriate choice of multimedia. I have a knack of the latest technologies which help me to evaluate rapidly project essentials, determine terms and deadlines, execute in full the project.

As you can see on my CV I lead a busy life through my daily responsibilities and various business activities, which has meant that I have very quickly learnt the importance of time management. I have always handed my work in on time and never missed a deadline. My communication skills have greatly developed through my work experience with ABC_CORPORATION and its markets in Central and Eastern Europe.

For the period of my management and fulfillment of the ABC_CORPORATION on-line activities, the ABC_CORPORATION recognizes COUNTRY_NAME as the fastest growing market in terms of Internet presence. My dedication to work and pursuit for perfection convinced ABC_CORPORATION to choose COUNTRY_NAME as a pilot market for several web-based projects and desktop applications. As of 2007 I am the person responsible for terms negotiation, concept development, execution and language adaptation of ABC_CORPORATION websites in COUNTRY_1, COUNTRY_2, COUNTRY_3, and COUNTRY_4.

XYZ position as a leading organization attracts me and I feel XYZ offers the opportunity to work with the type of people and projects that I am seeking. I feel I perform to a high standard and have a range of relevant skills that I can bring to XYZ.

I would be very keen to find out more about XYZ aims and would welcome the opportunity to discuss my application further at an interview. I hope you will consider my application favourably and I look forward to hearing from you.

Yes, I agree that my summary is too long, Shall I eliminate it and instead write a cover letter? I would just make it shorter and in point form. Think of it as a chance to highlight your strengths.

Is this summary suitable to be a cover letter? You could use parts of it, but focus on the purpose of a cover letter.

Say what job/kind of job you want

Do I need a cover letter for a recruiting agency after all? I don't know. I think it's probably a good idea.

What about the rest of CV? I've added a few comments.

There are also books etc. available that give sample CV's for professional people. Have you had a chance to look at such things? You should.

SUMMARY

A highly motivated, determined, and dedicated 29 year old general practitioner (GP) with practical work experience in conducting evidence based medicine during my 16th month compulsory national service, when I was working as a GP in a health clinic handling most aspects of a GP responsibilities. My appreciation for importance of “ evidence based medicine” has led me to propose surveys and researches to gather appropriate data concerning most daily encountered medical problems. My commitment to humanitarian activities and my professional obligations led to a two-week voluntary work for Red Crescent during the very first days of catastrophic *** earthquake ( date), when I experienced working with the least equipment and facilities during a natural disaster of massive number of casualties and lots of emergencies. I spent two month of my internship and one month of my clerkship in a rural health clinic where I became familiar with the the country health system and policies in rural area while under supervision I was responsible for daily patient care and visits, handling and updating patients records, doing patients follow-ups, vaccination, pregnancy and pediatric routine cares, birth control, consultation, monitoring community health and addressing any health problem in the community. I proposed a survey during this invaluable experience of my internship to find out the results of failure of patient for following up their routing visits especially for pregnant women and juvenile’s which resulted in 23 percent increase in their attendance. The rest of my internship was in a large medical center in *** city during which we were trained for conducting a wide array of medical skills in all medical disciplines. I understand the value of research in medicine and have always been keen to conduct practical researches to solve some problems of community or bring new treatment to practice, which could be noticed from my research background. I have always been eager to connect my current knowledge to perpetual stream of new medical breakthroughs and practices through reading reputable medical journals, however my research background makes me to be critical to new article and research papers form content and methodology perspective. Playing Basketball has taught me the value of teamwork and to be more proficient in indispensable art of time management. I studied medicine in and graduated from a medical school listed in both WHO and IMED directory of medical schools.

WORK EXPERIENCE

*** Health Clinic, city, country ( 2006 - Jun, 2007)
General Practitioner (GP)
As a result of post graduation compulsory National Service, I served in the above health clinic having the full responsibility of a GP, handling primary health care issues , emergency settings, psychiatric cases, and being responsible for executing comprehensive patient workout, providing full medical and psychiatric consultation, figuring out patients diagnostic and therapeutic plan including: drug prescription, requesting x-rays and labs, referring to higher centers and appropriate specialties. My simultaneous enthusiasm for conducting evidence-based medicine in all aspects of my practice and medical research resulted to my proposition of carrying out problem-oriented surveys and local researches to promote comprehensive health care and patient management. As the result we decided to undertake some preventive and educational measures to reduce the number of patients with low back pain, knee pain, depression, peptic ulcer, headache altogether by 19 percent within an eight-month follow-up of the targeted population. I worked with three other doctors, seven nurses, and ten physician assistances, also being responsible for monitoring nurses and assistances work, coordinating personnel, and scheduling night shifts. Put it all in point form.
Skills and Qualifications:
• University degree (BSc. or MSc.) in biological sciences or
infectious diseases plus 3 years of related research experience
• Proven expertise in molecular biology and recombinant
protein expression/purification methodologies mandatory
• Experience in handling biosafety level 2 pathogens required
and only individuals with biosafety training at *** will be considered
• Established experience in the detection and analysis of
protein-protein interactions
• Experience with mouse models for the study of infectious
pathogens a plus
• Effective oral and written communication, interpersonal and
organizational skills
• Computer and excellent record-keeping skills required
• Ability to work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary
team
• Accuracy and attention to detail
• Ability to prioritize tasks to meet project deadlines

I
achieved an MSc in Molecular Biology in September *** with emphasis on
molecular diagnosis and therapeutics. I also took recombinant DNA and
Bioinformatics courses which introduced me to gene expression and structure
function relationships of proteins. I developed interest in genes expressed
under drug pressure as well as conserved epitopes in infectious pathogens
enabling to be more knowledgeable in bioinformatics programs. However,
Molecular microbiology is my preferred branched because it includes main
disease control aspects of most pathogens of public health treat and I enjoy
critical and analytical work.

As
a research techniques and laboratory analyst as indicated in my resume, I used
PCR, Dot blotting, ELISA and SDS-PAGE to identify variations in molecular
markers in Plasmodium falciparum , to identify point mutations in genes
responsible for sensitive of the parasite to given drugs, to identify, qualify
and quantify antibodies to specific antigens and to separate and identify
proteins present in a sample. Within these periods I safely collected and
analysed samples from patients with infectious diseases. I have definitely benefited
from these experiences and I feel much more knowledgeable in biosafety
practices.

I
use optimised reagents and protocols as well as control measures and obtained
optimum results for my reactions while observing all laboratory safety
procedures. My ability to follow and up date protocols have enabled me to be
disciplined and organised. I have carried out analysis with a range of
molecular techniques and I feel confident that I can use other techniques with
similar principles such as ELISPOT and Immunohistochemistry detection.

I
used PowerPoint, MS word, Excel and other soft ware programs in seminars,
debates and course works to make graphs, diagrams, calculations and pictures to
discuss, explain and indicate the basis and significance of my work, how it is
similar and or different from similar works of other investigators.

I plan, arranged and work around my project
meeting tight datelines while comparing my ideas with those of my colleagues
and laboratory mates and eager to help whenever possible. I report all
observations as it is generated in real time in my laboratory notebook and my
progress to my supervisors. This will enable the continuation of similar
studies based on my findings as well as the continuation of my work by another
person.

I am keenly interested in specialising in
disease control research mainly on the patterns of gene expression during
various conditions and the structure function changes of the proteins produced
by the cell type during these conditions.

The *** website has given me a proper
insight into the expertise, techniques, focus, approach and the pathogens of
***. It is my pleasure to learn more about gene expression and its associated
proteins as a molecular basis of disease control amongst a variety of top
quality experts. This will enable me to develop myself better both
professionally and personally. I therefore, feel confident that the Research
Assistant is the right choice for me
and I would appreciate the opportunity to work at the Division of Infectious
Diseases-*** .

If you want an advice: drop it. I have seen it in a sample but I don't think it is very helpful.

2)I look forward to hearing from you. In my opinion this is the best ending and I use it all the time. I will be looking implicate you are not quite sure. This is not the appropriate tense, if you are sure. I see no need for 'will be looking'.

3) If you want a better ending insted of 'with a good..': I would welcome the unique opportunity to work as part of your successful team, to benefit from your extensive experience, and to put my training, experience, creativity and enthusiasm into practice for XYZ. Or something like that:-)

4) My social skills are excelent as well as my ability to understand foreign cultures and to adapt to them. Please drop ''people person'', there are other ways to point at your social skills.

5) Sorry but the letter is extravagant and not in a good way. Maybe you should make it more formal and close to the letter they usually receive. Personaly, I don't like the structure. It should have the following structure:

a) Introducing: Why am I writing. 1-2 sentenses.
b) Main Letter: Why am I the wright person for the job/the scholarship. Very important: do not repeat your CV. Use the CV to show, what have you done and your advantages but do not simply repeat the CV. This is a very important distincion.
aa) My education, expirience etc.
bb) My skills.
c) Ending: 1-2 sentenses.

Re: I need your suggestions-Motivation Letter for LLM Program

This isn't a motivation letter, more a mix between CV and a letter. The right term is though: cover letter (US)/covering letter (UK).

It would be helpful, if you make a research and see some sample before writing the letter. It this form it is pointless to correct it. The cover letter has a form and you have to stick to this form . This is very important because otherwise it makes a very unprofecional impression like in your case. A law graduate has to know about cover letter. With the present letter your chances for LLM are 0 even if the English is perfect. Sorry, if I am to hard with you but I am trying to help:-)

Form

1) Introduction
   a) I would like to apply....
   b) Explaining how you found the ad.

2) Why I am the right person for the position.
  a)Referring to any relevant experience.
b)Highlighting particular skills, qualications or accomplishments.

3) Referring to future contact
Re: curriculum vitae - "objective" (volunteer intership, australia)

connect to internet

There has been an avalanche of outbreaks of serious infectious diseases in different parts of the world. Whether an age-old disease or a new emerging disease, the global threat and financial burden it imposes is far from man’s intervention and estimation. The situation is highly critical and desperately needs a new dimension of thought and application to handle the situation effectively. In addition to understanding the physiology and epidemiology of the pathogen, the new challenges require a profound knowledge of the molecular basis of the diseases to provide potential strategies for intervention and prevention. Thanks to Dr. Werner Arber, Daniel Nathans and Hamilton Smith, restriction endonucleases were discovered, which led to the development of the rDNA technology. Their contribution has become the foundation for molecular dissection studies, which covers a wide spectrum of areas including Epidemiology, Diagnostics and Vaccine design. Having a strong breadth of knowledge in Molecular Biology, I would like to apply my knowledge to design novel strategies for prevention and treatment of Infectious diseases. To realize my ultimate dream and goal, my immediate step is to pursue graduate studies in your renowned Institute, and ultimately become a research professional with social responsibility.

Determined to pursue and excel as a research scholar in the stream of Life Sciences, I opted for a Bachelor’s program in Biochemistry in a Government college with merit scholarship. Having gained a strong knowledge in Biochemistry I immediately realized the benefits of pursuing my master’s degree in a University campus. The gamut of opportunities and rich environment of the Chennai University undoubtedly persuaded and motivated me. Amidst a very competitive group I was selected for a couple of other courses too, including Biotechnology, Advanced Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. But I was keen on choosing Molecular Biology as my major after discussing the future prospects of my career with the student coordinator. I am very glad I made the right decision for my future and myself.

During my post-graduation studies, I was strongly encouraged and motivated. The healthy competitive and rich environment prepared my mind for new challenges and helped me develop skills to tackle difficult situations. I became well versed in rDNA techniques and its applications. The great personal rapport with the PHD scholars in the University department has encouraged me to continue with graduate studies. I had a close association with one of the PhD scholars who was working in ‘Cloning and Characterization of X gene of Mycobacterium tuberculosis’’. His research topic fascinated me, and persuaded me to opt for graduate study in Infectious diseases and Immunology. It was at this juncture that my research interest became focused. The interrelationship between Microbiology, Immunology and Molecular Biology became evident to me. Looking forward to expanding my knowledge, I worked with him during weekends and the summer vacation. I already had a fair knowledge of Molecular techniques and its applications; and my interest in TB research intensified. I had many questions. Is X gene immunogenic? Could it be a potential candidate for vaccine design? This thirst for knowledge has driven me to opt for PHD in Infectious diseases.

I am very fortunate to work on an Immunology project for my dissertation. In spite of a short tenure, the knowledge and experience I accumulated is overwhelming. I worked on the Rubella vaccination project, which is a government-funded project. I analyzed a small number of 120 samples for the serological profile of Rubella IgG by ELISA. The experience gained as a Laboratory technician in X hospital helped me in efficient sample collection and storage. A diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology and extra experience in hospitals eased my initial phase of the dissertation work, and made my field experience really precious and memorable. I also learnt how a single data generated could be explicitly represented in different forms yielding valuable results. I also interacted with the kids and educated the parents about the project and its outcomes. This gave me a sense of social responsibility to care for the community, and gave me the impetus needed to pursue my Doctoral study in Infectious diseases and Immunology. Through this study I clearly understood that “Prevention is better than cure” and “Awareness” is more important than basic research. This is because basic research fails adversely where implementation loses priority. This holds good for any potential Infectious disease. The increased incidence of MDR pathogens and reemergence of age-old diseases serves as a warning that we must strengthen the disease surveillance systems and design and implement novel strategies to combat the disease effectively.

My UG and PG studies equipped me with new skills and refined my old skills. I developed teaching abilities and helped my peers in Immunology and Metabolism papers. This is when I realized my potential as a teacher and leader, by assisting a set of students in their assignments and course work. We often learnt by interacting with each other and sharing knowledge. I have been a source of unceasing motivation to my peer groups. As a result, we have participated in various competitions, represented our college and won a unique identity for our college and ourselves. These endeavors instilled and nurtured both leadership and team spirit in me.

Currently, working in a corporate environment has enabled me to efficiently utilize the opportunities for enhancing my soft skills. The job has helped me become a confident, competent individual and enhanced my professionalism. It has made me proficient in documentation and further strengthened my communication and presentation skills.

When I surfed through the web I discovered that Dr.--------------------- is actively involved in TB research. The Institute with its rich learning environment will definitely support my passion and goal of pursuing my doctoral studies.
