It is designed to be offered intensively in four weeks or extensively over a longer period.

The course provides practical training through teaching demonstrations, lesson planning and analysis, and practice teaching and feedback. Participants develop skills in teaching, speaking, listening, reading, writing, grammar and culture. The course begins with a brief look at second language acquisition through the experience of being a learner. Participants then examine specific teaching areas each day, which they apply in their daily practice teaching of adult ESOL learners. Participants gain skills in analysis through examining their lessons with IEERA teacher trainers.

The innovative course curriculum was designed by IEERA faculty, based on humanistic, experiential, and progressive teaching.

The IEERA International TESOL Certification Program focuses on three main areas:

Learning
Participants engage in a language-learning experience in order to explore the relationship between language learning, teaching, and aspects of second language acquisition from the point of view of the learner. This experience provides the foundation for the examination of teaching practices.

Teaching
Participants examine the theory and practice of planning, teaching, grammar, culture, and assessing lessons in the four skills (speaking, listening, reading and writing) through experiential activities, teaching demonstrations, discussions, lesson planning, materials development and readings.

Classroom practices
Participants put their new knowledge and skills into practice through daily teaching sessions. Trainers observe and facilitate feedback sessions after these lessons. Participants learn to reflect on and assess their own teaching as well as to examine the teaching of their peers.

The IEERA's International TESOL Certificate is recognized worldwide. Graduates find challenging teaching positions in the U.S. and abroad, or return to their current jobs with new skills and greater knowledge, awareness, and satisfaction. To facilitate networking, IEERA maintains a listserv that connects graduates of all IEERA courses.

The course is currently being offered at locations worldwide through IEERA partnerships with host sites and also online. In China, these include:

Tsinghua University (Beijing)*
Zhejiang University (Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province)
East China Normal University (Shanghai)
Huazhong Normal University (Wuhan , Hubei Province)
Jiangsu University (Zhenjiang, Jiangsu Province)
Jianghai College (Yangzhou, Jiangsu Province)
Winstorm International English School (Yangzhou, Jiangsu Province)
Xinkai Training School (Suzhou, Jiangsu Province)
Web International English School (Shanghai)

*Join our Summer 2008 TESOL course at Tsinghua University in Beijing! I want to apply to a College in Denmark and I want to have a chance to be chosen, so I am requiring help from anyone that is kind enough to offer it. I would also like to use the experience of interacting with the users of this forum to get prepared for the English test (sort of TOEFL, but not exactly) that I am required to pass for that College.
This is my letter of reference that I wrote for my teacher to sign. (I know this practice isn't the right way, but my teacher was very busy, so he asked me to do so). I would appreciate if you could have a look at it and spot mistakes and unusual phrases, if there are any.

i have replaced - [me] = my name

<strike>begin</strike>

To Whom it May Concern,

I am writing this letter as a recommendation for [me], a student at “[my school]” National College, in the quality of Teacher and Class Master at “[my school]” National College.

I have known [me] for almost four years, and in this time he has proven to be an extremely valuable student, with a great potential for learning, surpassing many other students.

In my opinion, during the time I spent with [me] in class, I can say I got to know him quite well. He has proven to me that he has an ample knowledge in the field of technology, being capable of operating a PC and virtually any software and device. The student [me] is, without doubt, one of the most valuable students to whom I teach. He has participated in programming school contests, as well as other contests, like Kangourou European Contest of Applied Mathematics in 2007 and the Siemens Join Multimedia design contest, in 2006.

As far as I can say, he is a very conscious student, one of his greatest qualities is the ability to associate and use new information, so that he finds it very easy to understand a bigger concept and get the essential picture. Moreover, I have noticed that [me] progressed since I had first met him, in the way that now he is more mature, more capable of making right decisions. He has now reached a high level of intelligence and awareness and I can fully state that he is ready to meet the intellectual requirements that are demanded by a college course.

[me] is a talented person, and very passionate when it comes to his ambitions. In a conversation we had a little time ago, I had learned that he is inclined toward computer designing, especially web sites. He had told me that he was studying diverse designing techniques and programming languages at home, so that one day he could be prepared for a job as a web designer.

However, despite the fact that [me] has focused on the field of technology and computers, he has a vast general knowledge and he is aware that by also studying other fields he could solve problems that are related to his choice field. He is a sociable person that accommodates in a group rather quickly, being able to handle teamwork efficiently. He knows when to listen and how, and he adapts his ideas to fit the project he is working on, therefore proving to be extremely flexible.

All things considered, I strongly believe that [me] is the right choice for the Multimedia Design and Communication courses within the [my choice] College. His redoubtable qualities and abilities, along with his great potential render [me] able to respond to elevated academic standards and even to outperform them, in order to pursue his career prospects. I am utterly convinced that this student could be a valuable addition to a prestigious academic center, such as your college.

Yours Faithfully,

<strike>end</strike>

Thank you for your time.
p.s. I will also post my motivation letter as soon as it's finished.

expiration of toefl and ielts scores

As you are probably aware of the fact that the scores of tests like TOEFL and IELTS expires two years after the date of test. The reason they give for this is that one's proficiency in a foreign langauge changes considerably with the passage of time and if someone is not coming in contact with that foreign language then the deterioration of language skills is inevitable.

I do agree with their explanation. But what they say also applies to almost all other subjects. Take mathematics as an example. If someone is not working with math for sometime then his mathematical skills would deteriorate to a significant degree. I remember I once read somewhere that if you want to be good at mathematics, then do it on a regular basis. Even if you are a mathematician but you are not practicing mathematics, then the chances are that when you write 2 square is 4, you would wonder that why is 2 square equal to 4? That is quite right. I have not been doing any mathematics since last year, therefore what I read once exactly explains my condition. What do you on this?

AVAILABLE TEACHING POSITIONS IN TURKEY!

Yes, I agree that my summary is too long, Shall I eliminate it and instead write a cover letter? I would just make it shorter and in point form. Think of it as a chance to highlight your strengths.

Is this summary suitable to be a cover letter? You could use parts of it, but focus on the purpose of a cover letter.

Say what job/kind of job you want

Introduce yourself and your skills briefly, in terms of why people should choose you for this job.

Ask for an interview or whatever action you want the agency to take

Do I need a cover letter for a recruiting agency after all? I don't know. I think it's probably a good idea.

What about the rest of CV? I've added a few comments.

There are also books etc. available that give sample CV's for professional people. Have you had a chance to look at such things? You should.

SUMMARY

A highly motivated, determined, and dedicated 29 year old general practitioner (GP) with practical work experience in conducting evidence based medicine during my 16th month compulsory national service, when I was working as a GP in a health clinic handling most aspects of a GP responsibilities. My appreciation for importance of “ evidence based medicine” has led me to propose surveys and researches to gather appropriate data concerning most daily encountered medical problems. My commitment to humanitarian activities and my professional obligations led to a two-week voluntary work for Red Crescent during the very first days of catastrophic *** earthquake ( date), when I experienced working with the least equipment and facilities during a natural disaster of massive number of casualties and lots of emergencies. I spent two month of my internship and one month of my clerkship in a rural health clinic where I became familiar with the the country health system and policies in rural area while under supervision I was responsible for daily patient care and visits, handling and updating patients records, doing patients follow-ups, vaccination, pregnancy and pediatric routine cares, birth control, consultation, monitoring community health and addressing any health problem in the community. I proposed a survey during this invaluable experience of my internship to find out the results of failure of patient for following up their routing visits especially for pregnant women and juvenile’s which resulted in 23 percent increase in their attendance. The rest of my internship was in a large medical center in *** city during which we were trained for conducting a wide array of medical skills in all medical disciplines. I understand the value of research in medicine and have always been keen to conduct practical researches to solve some problems of community or bring new treatment to practice, which could be noticed from my research background. I have always been eager to connect my current knowledge to perpetual stream of new medical breakthroughs and practices through reading reputable medical journals, however my research background makes me to be critical to new article and research papers form content and methodology perspective. Playing Basketball has taught me the value of teamwork and to be more proficient in indispensable art of time management. I studied medicine in and graduated from a medical school listed in both WHO and IMED directory of medical schools.

WORK EXPERIENCE

*** Health Clinic, city, country ( 2006 - Jun, 2007)
General Practitioner (GP)
As a result of post graduation compulsory National Service, I served in the above health clinic having the full responsibility of a GP, handling primary health care issues , emergency settings, psychiatric cases, and being responsible for executing comprehensive patient workout, providing full medical and psychiatric consultation, figuring out patients diagnostic and therapeutic plan including: drug prescription, requesting x-rays and labs, referring to higher centers and appropriate specialties. My simultaneous enthusiasm for conducting evidence-based medicine in all aspects of my practice and medical research resulted to my proposition of carrying out problem-oriented surveys and local researches to promote comprehensive health care and patient management. As the result we decided to undertake some preventive and educational measures to reduce the number of patients with low back pain, knee pain, depression, peptic ulcer, headache altogether by 19 percent within an eight-month follow-up of the targeted population. I worked with three other doctors, seven nurses, and ten physician assistances, also being responsible for monitoring nurses and assistances work, coordinating personnel, and scheduling night shifts. Put it all in point form.
SUMMARY

A highly motivated, determined, and dedicated 29 year old
general practitioner (GP) with practical work experience in conducting evidence
based medicine during my 16th month compulsory national service, when I was
working as a GP in a health clinic handling most aspects of a GP
responsibilities. My appreciation for importance of “ evidence based medicine”
has led me to propose surveys and researches to gather appropriate data
concerning most daily encountered medical problems. My commitment to
humanitarian activities and my professional obligations led to a two-week
voluntary work for Red Crescent during the very first days of
catastrophic *** earthquake ( date), when I experienced working with the least
equipment and facilities during a natural disaster of massive number of
casualties and lots of emergencies. I spent two month of my internship and one
month of my clerkship in a rural health clinic where I became familiar with the
the country health system and policies in rural area while under supervision I
was responsible for daily patient care and visits, handling and updating
patients records, doing patients follow-ups, vaccination, pregnancy and
pediatric routine cares, birth control, consultation, monitoring community
health and addressing any health problem in the community. I proposed a survey
during this invaluable experience of my internship to find out the results of failure
of patient for following up their routing visits especially for pregnant women
and juvenile’s which resulted in 23 percent increase in their attendance. The
rest of my internship was in a large medical center in *** city during which we
were trained for conducting a wide array of medical skills in all medical
disciplines. I understand the value of research in medicine and have always
been keen to conduct practical researches to solve some problems of community
or bring new treatment to practice, which could be noticed from my research
background. I have always been eager to connect my current knowledge to
perpetual stream of new medical breakthroughs and practices through reading
reputable medical journals, however my research background makes me to be
critical to new article and research papers form content and methodology
perspective. Playing Basketball has taught me the value of teamwork and to be
more proficient in indispensable art of time management. I studied medicine in
and graduated from a medical school listed in both WHO and IMED directory of
medical schools.

WORK EXPERIENCE

*** Health Clinic, city, country ( 2006 - Jun, 2007)
General Practitioner (GP)
As a result of post graduation compulsory National Service, I served in the
above health clinic having the full responsibility of a GP, handling primary
health care issues , emergency settings, psychiatric cases, and being
responsible for executing comprehensive patient workout, providing full medical
and psychiatric consultation, figuring out patients diagnostic and therapeutic
plan including: drug prescription, requesting x-rays and labs, referring to
higher centers and appropriate specialties. My simultaneous enthusiasm for
conducting evidence-based medicine in all aspects of my practice and medical
research resulted to my proposition of carrying out problem-oriented surveys
and local researches to promote comprehensive health care and patient
management. As the result we decided to undertake some preventive and
educational measures to reduce the number of patients with low back pain, knee
pain, depression, peptic ulcer, headache altogether by 19 percent within an
eight-month follow-up of the targeted population. I worked with three other
doctors, seven nurses, and ten physician assistances, also being responsible
for monitoring nurses and assistances work, coordinating personnel, and
scheduling night shifts.
I seriously need some help for correcting my motivation letter and my curriculum vitae. I have never done one before, so if you have any comments or you find any mistakes PLEASE let me know. I would definitely appreciate that!

My name is Alejandro Lopez and I am a 22 years old, highly motivated student at the University of Valencia, Spain. Currently, I´m in my last year of a five year barchelor’s degree in Physics.

This year I am in Barcelona at Universidad Autónoma of Barcelona with a spanish exchange program ( SICUE -SENECA) and in June i will be taking my final exams in Cosmology, standard model, relativiy , quantum computation and matter-light interaction.

I have always thought that theory is the basis of everything, but at the same time I am convinced that experience is what makes a person unique. I think that summer program can definitely provide a rare oportunity for gaining the valuable “hands- on experience” that I am looking for.

I am convinced that the experience of joining in a reserach group will be very helpful for me to further develop myself and to improve my knowledge. I am confident that the courses that i have taken will make me a good candidate for this intership.

I also would like to know more about German culture and society. Germany has a rich cultural and spiritual heritance i would like to live. I also would like to learn another language and experience another educational system.

Because of I have studied English over many years i think the languaje will not be a problem. I am a good learner and have fluent English; two years ago I successfully passed the FCE Cambridge and TOEFL Examination . In order to become much better, last year I had the chance to attend University of Texas in Austin with an internationAL exchange program. . I found that I was able to learn better residing in the country and I greatly appreciated the cultural experience because it gave me a unique motivation for further improvement in language.

My personal intention is to make a Master and then a PhD and follow an academic career as a university teacher. I think Germany is the ideal place to study more and gain as much knowledge, experience I can. I hope this intership in a join researchr program there will help me come closer to my target and provide me with all the necessary in order to fulfill my dreams.

I am enclosing my curriculum vitae, academic scores files and certificates of English ( FCE and TOELF).

Thank you for taking the time to consider my application. I look forward to a positive response.
