Re: a human//a person//a people//a human beings
Hi, 'People' and 'beings' are plural, so they cannot go together with the indefinite article 'a'. ' A person ' or ' a human being ' would be grammatically fine.

Re: is in progress/on the way
The biggest error is that 51 will be followed by "st" instead of "th". You can tell because you would say it aloud "fifty-fir st ". Also, "50 pages" does not need an article (a/an, or the) because it is plural, so that is correct, however, "51st...

Re: Youths clashed with police / the police in Belfast.
I can see no reason why the definite article should be used with youths. We know nothing about these youths and the reference is to no specific group of youths. If we use the before youths, logically it should be used with any plural noun in similar contexts: The cars were parked illegally in...

Re: superative and article
Yes, you need the definite article before a superlative, whether the noun it modifies is singular or plural. the most beautiful girl/girls Top gun; top dog are fixed expressions when used without an article. Ultimate climber/climbers may be a fixed expression, but I haven't heard it....

Use of "the" before plural nouns preceded by an adjective
Hi All, I am a little confused about the use of definite article "the" before plural nouns preceded by an adjective. Which of these sentences uses the correctly? Ram bought the movie tickets. To buy the movie tickets, Ram had to stand in the queue.

Re: indefinite article before a gerund
I am not sure if the following answers your question but I'll say it anyway. Some grammarians don't distinguish between verbal nouns (= complete nouns formed from verbs with the ing ending) and gerunds (= words that are neither verbs nor nouns but resemble both to some extent). Some...
