A military commander would give objectives to his troops.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Goals can be more personal. When making a New Year&amp;#39;s Resolution, people may list their goals for the year.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Purpose is what something is for.
